There’s a good reason why the CMID blog has been dormant of late.  We have been busy focusing our efforts on developing a newly crafted blog, with a re-launch planned for the end of February.

Remaining true to your essential style while constantly keeping your work fresh are key elements that work in tandem to deliver effective and successful interior design.  The new CMID blog aims to reflect this thinking.

Apartments in a Former Chocolate Factory

After admiring the Lyceum apartments by Stockholm property development company, Oscar Properties last week, I delved further into their portfolio and found these lovely apartments located in a former chocolate factory. Again, the historical character building, typical of factory buildings in the 1920's in Stockholm, have high ceilings and large mullioned windows which are so desirable in a living space. And to top it off, these spaces are well designed, have a beautiful palette of materials and styled with sophisticated pieces. Tick, tick, tick - all the right boxes.

Stunning Modern Apartments in Stockholm

This is a amazing example of how great apartments can be! These beautifully staged apartment interiors, showing off the high ceilings and large windows are part of Lyceum, a new development in Stockholm, Sweden by Oscar Properties. Three buildings are combined to contain around 80 apartments and were once homes to classrooms and laboratories. These sophisticated apartments are unique and truly impressive. This is the Scandinavian style I admire most - modern, rich and warm.

Studio Apartment above Garage

This studio apartment located in Auckland was recently featured in Remodelista  and it is a great example of well designed small-space living. Designed by Karin Montgomery Spath, this stylish loft was created above the garage for her clients to reside while their main house was undergoing extensive renovations. Since completion, this loft has become the house's guest quarters. Read how Karin approached this project and her small space ideas here.

An Apartment with a Garden in Sao Paulo

How to create a oasis of calm in the middle of the relentless pace that the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil has to offer? Create a garden.
This occupant spend five years (such patience!) finding the apartment that had a quiet terrace and was within her budget. Once this was conquered, she worked with SAO Arquitetura to create this breezy, light-filled home and its defining characteristic - the narrow but elegant indoor/outdoor terrace. It's so nice to bring nature indoors in a big city. Read more about the design process and results here.
