Colour and Pattern
It's always lovely to see a job completed and here are some details from a family home that was done today.
We had a great mix of colour and pattern coming together with the fabrics on the furniture, drapes, light shades and cushions in this family room beside the new kitchen. We also finished off the mainly white kitchen with these cool IMO Baker stools in black. Looking smart!

I visited a client's house this morning and it was great to see the Carrara marble hexagon tiles that we chose for the kitchen splash-back installed and looking amazing.

HAY and Comwell Hotel
Here is an extraordinary design collaboration that was brought to my attention recently - in this case, it's between a hotel and a furniture brand.
Welcome to Comwell Aarhus, a hotel in Denmark whose interiors were fully designed by the internationally renowned furniture and interior manufacturer, HAY. This successful Danish design house had their hand in creating everything from the carpet and wallpaper right through to furnishing all the rooms with their well known furniture and accessories to make the Comwell Aarhus truly unique - a classic Danish design with a modern twist. I wonder if visitors who stay here try to steal anything...how tempting!

Cross Street by C + M Studio
Like the look of this apartment? Wish you could move in just as it is? Well, that was the very concept behind Cross Street.
Located in a prime beach-side location, this apartment was found by C + M Studio, a Sydney based design studio, who took the opportunity to flip the outdated interiors into the beautiful and functional spaces that you see here. Then a range of local designers, artists and retailers were invited to fill the apartment with desirable home wares, furniture and artwork - all of which were for sale. So you could buy the apartment empty, buy the apartment with everything in it or shop the individual items. The site went to auction on Saturday - and I do wonder what the final result was!
For the rest of us who cannot be there, we can admire or source the lovely products here.

Spotted on Yellowtrace (a great and up to date online design publication) is this lovely project, the Polperro Winery, which was designed by the much admired Melbourne firm, Hecker Guthrie. Located in Red Hill, Victoria, the interiors were inspired by artist Rebekah Stuart and her paintings, which can be seen throughout the spaces. Read here for more insights about the stylish project.

Anglepoise and Paul Smith
About 7 years ago I brought three Anglepoise Type 75 table lamps (all in off white) for my then new abode and ever since then they have been in daily use in my office as well as my bedroom - so it's easy to say that I am a fan of these classic and timeless lights.
When I saw this collaboration between two iconic British brands, Anglepoise and Paul Smith to create a limited edition Anglepoise + Paul Smith piece - I thought you just couldn't get better than this. The final result has the classic silhouette of the Type 75 lamp, however this time with the unmistakeable colour and humour of Paul Smith. So cool - and yes, they are available in New Zealand through Cult Design.
